William Tash
William “Bill” Ronald Tash, son of the late Donald and Mary Tash was born on May 28, 1944, in Portland, Maine. He went home to be with his Lord on September 26, 2024, at the James. A Haley VA Hospital in Tampa, Fla.
Bill passed surrounded by family, his loving wife Louise, her daughter Kim and husband Jason by his side.
He was preceded in death by his wife Priscilla Tash, stepson Eric Mitchell, brothers, James Tash and Donald Tash.
Bill is survived by his wife Louise Layton Tash, son Ron Tash (Tracy), daughter Lisa Carter (Woody), stepsons Dale Mitchell (Thelma), Vance Mitchell (Tammy) and Bart Mitchell (Tracy). He was also the proud Papa and Grampy to 11 grandchildren: Allyson, Nickolas, Woodrow, Ryan, Cyerra, DreySean, Mikkayla, Alexandra, Sydney, Colton and Rachel. He was also blessed with 8 great grandchildren and Louise’s children Terri Jones, Brenda Moore, Scott Layton and Kimberly Poore.
Bill was a proud military veteran and served 12 years in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. During his service, he traveled to many foreign countries flying in his beloved C-130s. As a proud veteran, Bill was never shy about striking up conversations with other military personnel. He now has two grandchildren and step-grandson following in his footsteps and serving in the Air Force. (He was so proud of them.)
Bill retired from MSAD 61 after 25 years of dedicated service to the Maine school system. While there he filed numerous positions but his most rewarding was as a bus driver, where he was affectionately known as Mr. Bill.
He and his late wife Priscilla loved traveling and visited many places including Hawaii, Iceland and Japan. After being widowed, he married Louise and they continued to travel for many years cross country, enjoyed several cruises and visits to Canada.
There will be a graveside memorial service in Maine at a later date.
