William M. Pitman, 80
WARNER — William Merle Pitman, 80, a lifelong resident of South Chatham, N.H., died peacefully Monday, Jan. 22, 2018 at the Pine Rock Manor in Warner with family at his bedside.
He was born on Sept. 23, 1937, in North Conway, N.H., a son of Merle and Edna (Hill) Pitman. He attended the one-room schoolhouse in South Chatham and later graduated from Fryeburg Academy.
 On June 26, 1960, he married Sunya “Sunny†Munroe at the Chatham Church. They made their home locally as he ran a small logging and sawmill operation.
 Bill was a friendly sort who enjoyed traveling, geography, trains, collecting old tractors and walking with friends.
He is survived by a son, Matt Pitman of South Chatham; a grandson and special step-grandchildren; cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Sunny, on April 24, 2011; and son, Mark on June 5, 2017.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., May 12, 2018 at the Green Hill Cemetery in South Chatham.
