William M. Keresztessy
William Milton Keresztessy of Denmark, affectionately known as Mr. Bill, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was 90 years old.
Born on July 3, 1934 to Frank and Pauline (Dolinger) Keresztessy and raised in Huntington Station, N.Y., William proudly served in the United States Army overseas in Korea. Following his time in the military, he married the love of his life, Arleen (Eibel) Keresztessy on May 31, 1959, and together they started their family in Centereach, N.Y. From there, they moved to
Coventry, R.I., where they raised their five children: Cynthia (Brewer), William, John, Frederick (wife Tracy), and Frank.
William worked tirelessly throughout his life at various furniture moving and storage companies, to provide for his family before retiring to Denmark, in 1997. It was in Maine that William and Arleen enjoyed their retirement, traveling extensively across the United States, marveling at its natural beauty and exploring small, hidden museums.
A passionate race fan, William especially enjoyed Indy car racing and local modified series. He was also a talented hobbyist, spending many hours building and flying remote control planes, creating woodworking projects, and completing home improvement projects. He also loved snowmobiling and taking his Mustang on “rides to nowhere” and cherished his time doing so.
William was predeceased by his beloved wife, Arleen, his son William, and his brothers John, Frank, and George.
He is survived by his sister, Dolly Weinfurt of Florida, many other family members and friends who admired his calm nature and fondly remember his Labor Day parties, where countless great memories were made.
William also leaves behind his grandchildren: Ashley Moran, Sarah Anderer (Brian), Emily Brewer, Thomas Brewer, Brooke Keresztessy, and Faith Keresztessy, as well as two great-grandchildren Oliver and Owen. He adored them all, and they loved him dearly.
He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
There will be a wake at Wood Funeral Home, 9 Warren St., Fryeburg on Saturday, January 11 from 1-4 p.m. A private burial will be held in the spring.
