William H. O’Neil
William H. O’Neil, 74, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Bridgton Hospital with his loving wife by his side, after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born March 19, 1949, in Norwood, Massachusetts, a son of the late Harry and Mildred (Loring) O’Neil. After graduating from high school, William joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country aboard the U.S.S. J.F. Kennedy (CVA-67).
William owned and operated his
own HVAC company and pursued
truck driving before his retirement.
He was a proud member of the American Legion Riders. He was a member of the American Legion for 50 years and helped revitalize the Lopeman-Potts American Legion Post 67 in Bridgton, where he was the commander at the time of his death.
He loved to spend time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his loving parents Harry and Mildred O’Neil; his father-in-law Charles McLaughlin; and mother-in- law Ethel McLaughlin.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 50 years Kathy (McLaughlin) O’Neil; his daughter Kelly O’Neil-Wilson and her husband Spenser; his son Patrick O’Neil; his grandchildren Kamuy, Soma and Bodhi; and two nieces.
Following Williams’ wishes, a summertime burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Bridgton with military honors. The Legion will be sponsoring a cancer benefit ride in Bill’s honor.
