William McCallister Jr.

PORTLAND — William George McCallister Jr., 58, of Portland, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2014, after a long illness.

He was born in Portland, the son of William and Marietta (Magno) McCallister. After graduating from high school, William joined the Coast Guard, serving from 1973 to 1986. He was stationed in Japan during his service.

William later worked as a dispatcher for Town Taxi and Elite Taxi companies for many years. He found great joy in building models and rockets, movies, making lists, and had a love of cats.

He is survived by his mother, Marietta Nizza of Portland; his sons, Stewart McCallister of Gorham and Scott McCallister of Windham; daughters, Emilee McCallister, Kendra McCallister and Bethany McCallister, all of Raymond; a brother, Tony Nizza of Portland; a grandchild; and his close friends.

Visiting hours were held on Tuesday, followed by a time of remembrance at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church Street, Westbrook. Online condolences may be expressed at blaisandhayfuneralhome.com
