SEBAGO — Wayne “Butch” Farley, 85, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2025, at Bridgton Hospital after an extended illness with his family by his side.

Butch was born in Rockland on September 20, 1939, son of the late Thomas Farley and Charlotte (Woodward) Farley.

After graduation from Rockport High School, Butch worked as an equipment installer for the telephone company. Following retirement, he managed Fox Island Transport for good friends Cy and Barb Davidson who owned Carvers Harbor Market on Vinalhaven.

He married Ann MacFee of Vinalhaven in 1999 enjoying a fulfilling life with their blended families and many friends in Vinalhaven, Sebago and across the Midcoast region. Butch excelled in baseball, basketball, was an avid golfer and a longtime member of Rockland Golf Club. He was a little league coach, umpire, referee and was deeply honored to be inducted into the Midcoast Sports Hall of Fame in 2008. Along with his sons, family, and friends, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and many snowmobile trips.

Butch is predeceased by his brother David Farley of Rockport who passed away in February 2025.

Butch is survived by his wife Ann Farley, his sons Scott Farley and wife Jillian of Smyrna Mills, Barry Farley of Lily Bay, brother Carlton and his wife Val of Rockport, sister-in-law Carol Farley of Rockport, stepchildren Adam MacFee of Vinalhaven, Beth Herman of Windham and Bill MacFee of Rockland. Butch is also survived by his grandchildren Taylor Farley, Andrew, Daniel and Isaac Herman, Miranda MacFee, Racquelle Farley Haney and Meesha Luce as well as five great-grandchildren.

A life celebration will be held on May 18, 2025, at Rockland Golf Club from 1-3 p.m.
