Walter Libby

SOUTH PARIS — Walter H. Libby Jr., 74, of South Casco, died Sunday afternoon, June 26, 2022, at the Maine Veteran’s Home in South Paris with his wife by his side and where he had been a patient for the past five years in October.

He was born on Nov. 21, 1947, in Gorham, a son of Walter H. and Jeanette (Carrier) Libby Sr. He attended Gorham schools and went on to attend Southern Maine Vocational and Technical Institute earning a degree in HVAC/R after serving in the U.S. Navy where he studied diesel engines.

Walt served four years as an enlisted Navy man, and later worked at LC Andrew Lumber, Wickes Lumber, Stultz Electric, Central Maine Power, SD Warren Paper Company, and New England Trane Service (Trane Air Conditioning), seven years as a service technician and two as an operations manager.

He was a proud member of the Promise Keepers-Men of Integrity through his involvement in the Alliance churches of Bridgton and Casco.

He enjoyed reading, investing, woodworking, house construction, and God’s creation.

Walt is survived by his wife, Phyllis of South Casco, whom he married on April 6, 1997, at the Bridgton Alliance Church; stepchildren, Victoria Jipson and her husband, Wade of Leeds and their children, Amanda, Ashley and Aaron; Catherine Burniskis of Oxford and her children, Drake and Grace; grand-children, Alex and Fiona McKeen; siblings, Jack Libby and his wife, Diane of La., and their son and special nephew, Grant Libby, Jeanne Kennie and her husband, John of Gorham, Joanne Libby and her wife, Marie Lawson of Gorham and Windham, Tammy Speed of Gorham and Ted Libby of Fla.

He was predeceased by a brother, David Libby.
