Velma J. Ellis, 86, of Holland, N.Y. passed away on Monday, April 12, 2021 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Williamsville, N.Y.

She was born on Dec. 5, 1934, in Eliot to the late Francis Payne and Relefa McIntire Payne of Denmark.

Velma attended schools in Eliot, Denmark and Fryeburg Academy.

Velma worked for Fisher Price in Holland until her retirement. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Family meant everything to her.

She is survived by her children, Roger Ellis of Arcade, N.Y., Marland Ellis of Albemarle, N.C., Tina Sutz of Delevan and Valerie Jenkins of Chaffee, N.Y.; her brothers, George Payne of Keystone Heights, Fla., Roland Payne of Cabot, Vt., Herbert Payne of Denmark and Robert Payne of Raymond; a sister, Sandra Utterstrom of Falmouth; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; two sons, Kenneth Ellis Jr. and Ted Ellis; a grandson; her brothers, Francis Payne, Rayfield Payne, Dennis Payne and Carroll Payne; and a sister, Gwendolyn Teague.

There will be a memorial Mass at the South Protection Methodist Church on South Protection Road in Chaffee, N.Y. (to be determined). 

Memorials may be made to the South Protection Methodist Church or Chaffee/Sardinia Fire Company in her memory.
