Update on Bridgton Farmers Market

The Bridgton Farmers Market hopes to remain open on Saturdays at the former United Methodist Church property (Main Street) for as long as possible.

BFK officials recently received word from the Maine Department of Agriculture (DACF) that farmers’ markets can remain open, as needed. This is a fluid situation and BFK is making necessary changes as the guidelines are updated.

At this time, BFK is moving as many vendors as possible outside to allow for more space between tables for easy social distancing and fresh air.

In addition to the bathroom nearby, BFK will be providing a hand washing station for anyone who needs to wash their hands.

BFK is simplifying displays for the ease of grab-and-go purchase of produce and easy cleaning when you get home.

Members will do the shopping for you! Please let the vendors handle your food as you choose to minimize touching.

An info tent will stay open for SNAP/EBT/CC customers, but BFK asks that customers bring cash to slow the need for touching things like clipboards and pens.

“The Bridgton Farmers’ Market is deeply committed to community safety and will be following a comprehensive list of new COVID-19 protocol,” the BFK said in an e-mail statement. “With public health as a top priority during the COVID19 outbreak, the market has transitioned away from a social gathering hub to a place to efficiently pick up necessities from local producers.”

The Bridgton Farmers’ Market values the opportunity to provide nutritious, healthy, locally grown and produced food to our community.

“We believe that local food is safe food as it has passed through far fewer hands and facilities to get from our fields to your plates!” BFK said. “Lastly, the market will continue to monitor CDC recommendations and respond accordingly.”

The Market hopes to return to the space on Depot Street, near the Bridgton Community Center. Stay tuned.
