Shannon L. Thompson, 64, of Riverhead, N.Y., died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023, of pneumonia at the Peconic Bay Medical Center.

Shannon was born in Bridgton on Feb. 25, 1959, to Marion (Eaton) and George B. Lord. She attended local schools and earned her GED from LR Vocational Center. She married Keith Thompson on June 11, 1977.

Over the years Shannon had a variety of jobs that included Sebago Moccasin Co., a pharmacist
assistant, Kearsarge Industry and Carl’s Equipment, to name a few. In addition to Maine, she lived in New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut and New York, the latter where she had resided for the past twenty years.

Shannon was a very generous and caring person. One day she noticed the young son of her neighbor had been locked out of his home after school. For the next two years, until they moved away, she had him stay with her until his dad got home from work. Shannon loved kids and they loved her in return. She was the babysitter the kids always asked for.

Shannon is survived by her partner Jimmy Belletti, brothers Dale, Wayne and Danny Lord, sisters Cheryl Lord and Bonnie Longley and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.

She was predeceased by her parents, sister Judy Flick, brother Ronald Lord and husband Keith Thompson.

A Celebration of Life will be determined at a later date.
