CASCO — Sandra Ann “Sandy” Skillings, 54, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018 at her home in Casco.

She was born in Bridgton on March 13, 1963 to her parents, Earnest and Sandra Skillings.

Sandy graduated from Lake Region High School in 1981. She then continued a family tradition of service to her country and proudly enlisted in the United States Navy. She was stationed in California and Hawaii. After returning to Maine in 1985, she began a career at Bridgton Knitting Mill. After the mill closed, she worked as a customer service representative for several local businesses. Most recently, she was challenged by multiple health issues and endured breast cancer. Throughout these challenges, Sandy fought courageously and optimistically. She maintained a positive outlook and never complained about her struggles. Her family, friends and fiancé were her supports and will miss her immensely.

Sandy leaves behind her fiancé and devoted soul mate of 25 years, William “Rusty” Russell Keaten Jr. of Casco. She is also survived by her three brothers, William of Harrison, Timothy of New Hampshire and Ernest of New Hampshire; her two sisters, Barbara Cash of Exeter and Ernestine Carruthers of Florida; several nieces and nephews; also several great nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; a brother-in-law; and a nephew.
