Robert W. Linnell, 90
DENMARK — Robert "Bob" Waldo Linnell, 90, devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, died peacefully Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, surrounded by his family.
Bob was born in Portland on July 31, 1925, the oldest child of Victor and Edna Linnell. He spent his childhood in Bath and Brunswick, and spent many years working around New England as a pipefitter and welder before settling down in Denmark, across the street from his best childhood friend, Percy Lord.
Bob will be fondly remembered as a woodsman, hunter, collector, historian, and veteran, fiercely devoted to family. He greatest prides were his grandchildren, children and reaching the milestone of 90 years old.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruth; daughter Ann and son-in-law Stephen Arsenault; daughter Jane and son-in-law Roger Audet; and son David. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him, including Kelly and Jacob Perry; Jessica Audet and Brendan Sheehan; Nicholas Audet; Melanie, Brian and Aaliyah Swenson; Cynthia Arsenault; Megan, Nick, and Lucas Stilwell; Michael and Mallory Arsenault; Jim and Diane Linnell; Samantha Linnell; Heather Linnell and Tim Koster; and numerous others. He is also survived by brothers Virgil and Nathan, and sisters Becky Koehler, Nordica Graham, and Beverly Klaus. Bob was predeceased by his brothers Tommy, William, John and Lloyd.
Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of life at A.T. Hutchins Funeral and Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Avenue, Portland, on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, from 10 a.m. until 12 noon.
