Robert M. Hagan, 75

Robert Hagan

SEBAGO — Born June 3, 1944, in Elgin, Illinois, Robert Martin Hagan, 75, passed away Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019, in Sebago, Maine.

Bob retired from 20 years of serving in the United States Army where, during his career, he did two tours in the Vietnam War, was stationed in Germany for several years, and was stationed in Korea for a year, as well as several states in the U.S. After retiring he began a second career at Maietta Construction in Scarborough, where he worked for over 20 years.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Minnie and Marten Matzen; parents Helga and Marion “Butch” Hagan; and three sisters Donnalea, Carolea, and Annalea. He is survived by his wife Christine Hagan; his son Tim (Lauren) Hagan; daughter Julia (Scott) Wyper; grandsons Jeffrey and Zachary; and granddaughters Aislin and Brenna; as well as his sister Joanna (Verne) Wester; and several nieces and nephews.

Bob enjoyed going to Krista’s Four Season’s for coffee every morning and even had his own mug that had one of his common sayings on it “Like I Care.” Despite that mug’s saying he was always helping others, including keeping his neighbors plowed out in the winter, even though he never wanted help in return. He would visit any friend that wasn’t well, he could build anything you could think of, loved watching NASCAR — preferring Jeff Gordon, watching Tom and Jerry with his granddaughters when they woke up in the morning, and he had the best sarcastic wit. He will be so greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at The Sebago Center Community Church, 415 Bridgton Road, Sebago, Maine 04029, at 9 a.m., on Monday, Nov. 18. Interment will be privately held for family at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family would like donations sent to the Gosnell Hospice House in honor of Robert Hagan: Hospice of Southern Maine, 180 US Route 1 Ste. 1, Scarborough, ME 04074-9925. Arrangements are under the care of Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, 8 Elm St., Bridgton. Online condolences may be shared with his family at www.chandlerfunerals.com
