Robert H. Eastman, 89
LEWISTON — Robert H. Eastman, 89, of Lovell, died early Saturday morning, June 22, 2019, at the Marshwood Center in Lewiston.
He was born on Aug. 19, 1929, in Lewiston, a son of Harold and Alys (Hawley) Eastman. He spent his childhood in Fryeburg and graduated from Fryeburg Academy in 1947. He went on to attend the University of Maine at Orono, earning a Bachelor’s of Science degree. A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Army, Bob served stateside during the Korean Conflict.
He met and married Mary C. Chapman of Prince Edward Island and they made their home in Fryeburg from 1953 until 1994, when they moved to Lovell into the log home that he designed.
Robert worked his entire career at Western Maine Nurseries, a family company, retiring on Dec. 30, 1987. He spent his retirement playing golf in Maine and Florida, and fishing in his favorite fishing hole at Cobb’s Camps at Pierce Pond and Alaska. He was a lifelong Mason and a member of the Pythagorean Lodge in Fryeburg, and was a Kora Temple Shriner.
He is survived by three sons, Rick, Jim and Kevin; a daughter, Lynn Hobbs; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary in 2015.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you hug your children and grandchildren as much as possible or donate to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
