Robert Staley

Robert C. “Bob” Staley, 61, of Bridgton, died unexpectedly, early Sunday morning, June 9, 2019, at his home in Bridgton.

He was born on Dec. 30, 1957, in Portland, a son of Roscoe and Delma (Micklon) Staley. He attended local schools, graduating from Lake Region High School in 1976. 

Upon graduation, Bob immediately enlisted in the U.S. Army and served until 1980, spending a majority of that time stationed in Germany.

On May 1, 1982, he married, Deborah Mayo in Naples in the Methodist Church. They made their home in Bridgton, and Bob worked at Malden Mills until its closing. He then started his own dock service business, S&S Docks, which he has run alongside his sons and dock partner, Mickey Huntress, for nearly 30 years.

As a young man, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was always in for a game of poker. His greatest pleasure came in spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie of Bridgton; his mother, Delma Staley of Naples; his three sons, Thomas Staley of Bridgton, Ryan Staley and his wife, Jenine of Bridgton, and Philip Staley and his wife, Audrey of Windham; five grandchildren, Damon, Makaila, Mya, Maci and Myles; four siblings, George Staley of Naples, Deborah Martin of Bridgton, Sharon Johnson of Naples, and Stanley Staley of Rumford; several nieces and nephews; many special friends including the Huntress family. He was predeceased by his father, Roscoe Staley; a son, Michael Staley; and a brother, Henry Staley.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, June 20, at the Forest Hills Annex in Bridgton. A celebration of Bob’s life will continue at 12:30 p.m., at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 25 Sebago Rd., Naples.
