Rita V. Tardiff
GORHAM — Rita V. Tardiff, a longtime resident of Fort Hill Road, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015 in Portland following a brief illness.
She was born in Westbrook, a daughter of Albert and Anna (Richard) Tanguay. She worked at Dana Warp and St. Hyacinth’s Rectory. In 1949, she married Roger E. Tardiff and they began raising a family. They later moved to Gorham, where they enjoyed family time with their children and grandchildren.
She enjoyed traveling, cooking, taking trips to Foxwoods with her sisters and above all, spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Theresa Mondor, Annette Ledoux and Irene Trepanier; and brothers, Joseph, Leo, Maurice, Philip and Richard.
She is survived by her son, Roger Tardiff of Gorham; daughter, Diane Mercier of Gorham; six grandchildren including Michelle Mercier of Sebago; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Henry Tanguay; and sisters, Yvette Girouard, Constance Baillargeon and Margaret Palmer.
Visitation was held on Monday, Oct. 19, 2015 at Jones Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford Street, Portland. A Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015, at St. Anthony’s Parish, 268 Brown Street, Westbrook. Burial followed at St. Hyacinth’s Cemetery.
