Richard Hamel

SANFORD — Richard J. Hamel, 79, of Sanford, died on Monday, Aug. 3, 2015, at home after a lengthy illness.

A loving father and husband, he will be dearly missed. He worked for many years at Vishay Sprague in Sanford.

Richard was a communicant of the St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish Holy Family Church in Sanford.

Surviors include his wife of 50 years, Marie Ann (Gauvreau) Hamel; daughters, Doris Lynch of Norway and Michelle O’Kane of Naples; son, Patrick R. Hamel of Alfred; seven grandchildren and a great-grandson; two sisters, Julia Carpentier and Rose Carpentier; also, many loved ones.

Richard was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Olivia (Fillion) Hamel; and two siblings, George Hamel and Patrick Hamel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, at 10 a.m. at St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish Holy Family Church in Sanford, immediately followed by a burial at Notre Dame Cemetery in Springvale.
