Richard E. Cross, 69, passed away peacefully at his home in Naples surrounded by his family on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019.

Richard suffered from a rare stomach cancer, which he was diagnosed with in August 2019.

He was born in Groton, Mass. on May 6, 1950 to Beulah Winship and Percy Cross. He grew up in Porter, where he went to high school at Sacopee Valley and graduated in 1968. He was in the Army from 1968 to 1975, and also served in the Reserves.

Richard was an active member of the Republican Committee and the Naples Budget Committee. He enjoyed writing articles for the Bridgton News.

Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Cross of Naples; brothers JR of Newfield and Raymond of Washington State; daughters Rebecca, Jennie, Sherry, Stephanie and Melissa; sons Christopher and Dickie; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Caswell House in Harrison on Thursday, Jan. 9, at 6 p.m.
