Rev. Carlton W. Talbot II
Rev. Carlton W. Talbot II, 87, of Bridgton, passed away peacefully on Dec. 30, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his family, after a brief illness.
Born on December 12, 1937, in Auburn, N.Y., Carlton dedicated his life to serving others through his faith and commitment to community service.
Carlton spent over 40 years as a minister, guiding congregations in both New York and Massachusetts. His compassionate spirit and unwavering devotion to his congregations left a lasting impact on countless lives. Known for his warmth and wisdom, Carlton was an eloquent speaker, always able to engage others with captivating stories and thoughtful insights. He reminisced often with family and friends, thoughtfully remembering every sermon he preached, and wedding he officiated. In retirement, Carlton embraced a new adventure as the manager of the Songo River Queen in Naples, where he brought joy to many through his passion for hospitality and connection to the community.
Carlton was also an active member of the Bridgton Lions Club, and was a former member of the Naples Lions Club. His contributions to these organizations reflected his belief in the power of community and his desire to make a difference in the lives of others. He enjoyed his summers on Sand Pond with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Talbot (née MacLean), of Bridgton; his sister, Claudia Bennett, of N.H.; and his brother-in-law, Jack MacLean, of Fla. He leaves behind his children, Andrew Talbot and his wife, Pamela, of Mass.; Jill Talbot and her wife, Stacy, of Fla.; and Jeffrey Talbot of Calif., as well as his stepson, Matthew, and his partner, Jackie, of N.H. He found great joy in being a grandfather to Jessica Bernardo and her husband, Paul; Jennifer Talbot and her fiancé, Jonathan; Molly Mansfield and her fiancé, Joel; Meghan Mansfield; and Mark Mansfield. He was a beloved “Great-Bampi” to his great-granddaughter, Ellie, and is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Per his request, there will be no memorial services.
