Rec director surveys public on summer programming amid Covid
As Bridgton Recreation Director Colello started work on summer programming and events, he wondered whether people felt comfortable about attending a fireworks display or other happenings with more and more people being vaccinated and Covid-19 numbers dipping.
So, he asked.
On Facebook, Colello put up a survey last week regarding a July 3 fireworks display. He posted the following results from 250 respondents on Tuesday:
84% of the surveys collected were by Bridgton seasonal or full-time residents or Bridgton business owners.
72% would attend the fireworks display on July 3.
95% support resuming town events.
95% support having fireworks.
72% would attend July 4 events.
Colello and Health Officer Cathy Pinkham are currently reviewing the State of Maine Large Gathering Guidelines and will make a recommendation to Town Manager Robert Peabody this week.
“Thank you for those who took the survey it certainly helps to know what the community is thinking and wants this summer!” Colello said.
UPDATE: Bridgton plans to hold its July 3 fireworks display.
