Pumpkin People were welcomed fall sight
FRYEBURG — Pumpkin People, perched throughout Fryeburg this fall, were a welcoming sight, especially in these frustrating Covid-19 times.
The year 2020 is nearing an end and it has been a year to remember for sure. In the shadow of multiple fires out west, hurricanes in the south, election battles nationwide, and a deadly pandemic worldwide, it is hard to find joy in anything. With lockdowns, shutdowns and restriction on everything, it leaves us so limited and longing for something enjoyable and fun to do.
Since 2020 is also the year of Fryeburg Business Association’s 10th Anniversary, the board of directors decided to go the extra mile and create something fun for the businesses to do and the residents to enjoy — a challenge and contest to create and display the Fryeburg Pumpkin People in the month of October!
Thank you, Fryeburg! The “Fryeburg Pumpkin People” event was a huge success with 35 registered entries — more than ever imagined.
“We love that the fun just grew and grew,” FBA said. “Many folks have commented and complimented how wonderful it has been to drive around enjoying the displays.”
Some displays were elaborate; some were simple. All were special. For judging, FBA asked that displays be completed and registered with Fryeburg Business Association by Sept. 30 with extra credit for mentioning FBA’s 10 Anniversary. So, with that in mind, FBA winners are:
First Place: Fair Grounds Community Coffee ($100)
Second Place: Fryeburg Dental Center ($75)
Third Place: Saco River Canoe & Kayak ($50)
Honorable Mention: CBW Labs ($25)
People’s Choice: The Loft Salon ($50)
FBA thanks Norway Savings Bank, sponsor of the first-place prize, and to all participants for their great efforts and creativity. To see more Pumpkin People displays, go to FryeburgBusiness.com
