Player of the Week, Vylet Robbins
As a captain, Vylet Robbins’ leadership skills, maturity, creativity and athletic abilities have helped set the tone for the Lake Region cheerleading team this fall season.
“She models the values, work ethic, and behavior any coach would want to see in an athlete, demonstrating commitment, responsibility, and a positive attitude,” Lake Region Coach Janine Rocca-Chaine said. “Vylet puts in 100% effort and in doing so, encourages her teammates to do the same. She recognizes her responsibilities as a team leader knowing what is expected of her and stepping up, leading by example.”
Coach Rocca-Chaine added that Vylet is “a natural motivator providing positive feedback and constructive criticism, while also being receptive and willing to receive feedback, as well.”
“It is clear the success of the team as a whole is her ultimate goal. Vylet embodies what a true team player should look like and it has been a joy to have her join us this fall season!” Coach Rocca-Chaine said.
In recognition of her strong work ethic, determination, commitment and good sportsmanship, Vylet is this week’s Boosters and Hancock Lumber “Player of the Week.” Each week, a Lake Region athlete is recognized for his/her dedication (does more than what is asked), work ethic, coachability and academic good standing. Recipients receive a specially-designed t-shirt, sponsored by Hancock Lumber.

Q. What do you find most challenging about cheering? Remembering all of the eight counts while also having a smile on my face. Memory is a huge thing in cheer because you have to remember 20-plus cheers and then also remember the dance which is usually 10-plus eight counts.
Q. What goal did you set for yourself this season, and what will it take to reach that goal? I set a goal to get out there more, to be less scared of speaking in front of people and being less anti-social.
Q. What is your favorite sports memory and/or achievement? My favorite memory would be when our cheer team came together and became like a family. I’m really glad we had a great group of girls this year and all love each other.
Q. How has sports made you a better person? It’s made me a better person because it taught me how to trust these people as my family, made me a better leader while teaching me not to be bossy at the same time, and sports helped me get out of my comfort zone and accept myself more.
Q. Name a teammate or coach you admire? I admire my coach who is also my dad (Coach Josh). He pushes me to do better and makes it hard on me because he knows I want to do the best I can.
