Player of the Week: Nevaeh Stewart
Nevaeh Stewart has been working very hard on and off the court this season, according to Lake Region head basketball coach Paul True.
“She has demonstrated growth in ALL areas, which I am very proud of!” Coach True said. “Nevaeh is a good teammate and has earned the honors of Player of the Week!”
In recognition of her strong work ethic, determination, commitment and good sportsmanship, Nevaeh is this week’s Boosters and Hancock Lumber “Player of the Week.” Each week, a Lake Region athlete is recognized for his/her dedication (does more than what is asked), work ethic, coachability and academic good standing. Recipients receive a specially-designed t-shirt, sponsored by Hancock Lumber.

Q. Why did you choose to play basketball? My dad loved basketball and always signed me up and took me to different basketball things. I grew to love it.
Q. What is the most difficult part of the game? Keeping a level head. Basketball is more of a mental sport than physical. You don’t have to be the most athletic to succeed, you just need to understand the game.
Q. What do you enjoy the most? I enjoy the friendships it brings. I have met my best friends through this sport.
Q. What do you feel you need to work on and why? I need to work on communication because I know I’m a good leader but I don’t always speak up when I should.
Q. Why is teamwork important? Teamwork is important because that’s the only way you will win games. You can’t have one player do it all.
Q. What is the biggest impact your coach(es) has had on you? Not just my school coaches but also my AAU coaches have all been really helpful with working on my attitude and facial expressions, when I should and shouldn’t have them.
Q. How do you want people to view you as an athlete?
Q. Ten years from now, when you look back on your high school sports career, what do you think you will remember most? I will remember the bonds I had with all my coaches and teammates, and how close we are.
