Player of the Week Jordan Blanton
Jordan Blanton has either kept Lake Region in girls’ soccer games or been a major factor helping the team pull out victories by making key saves.
“Jordan has been a solid presence in the goal this year. She has a fun-loving attitude, and has improved her skills as goalkeeper,” Lake Region Coach Peter Webb said. “She is a calming presence and brings a level of trust as teammates know she is there to back them up.”
Coach Webb has been impressed that Jordan took a challenge to up her overall game this fall.
“She’s very good at saving shots that are in the air, but I challenged her that she needs to improve at saving lower shots,” Coach Webb said. “The very next day, she was markedly more aggressive and making saves on the ground.”
Jordan preserved a 1-0 Laker win over rival Fryeburg Academy by dashing out of the net and sliding to block a late scoring bid.
In recognition of her strong work ethic, determination, commitment and good sportsmanship, Jordan is this week’s Boosters and Hancock Lumber “Player of the Week.” Each week, a Lake Region athlete is recognized for his/her dedication (does more than what is asked), work ethic, coachability and academic good standing. Recipients receive a specially-designed t-shirt, sponsored by Hancock Lumber.
