Player of the Week: Elle Hall

Elle Hall

Senior Elle Hall is a force on defense and is a strong leader on and off the field hockey field.

She is a tri-captain on the Lake Region field hockey team, a three-sport athlete, vice president of her class, president of Varsity club, a member of National Honor Society, Environmental Club and the newspaper club, and she helps coach youth field hockey

“She has a kind spirit and is well-liked by her teammates and peers,” Lake Region varsity field hockey coach Pauline Webb said. “Elle has a lot of responsibility on the field as an experienced defender and is great at working with her younger teammates. She can push up the field and support her midfielders and can recover quickly when needed. She is very deserving of this recognition!”

In recognition of her strong work ethic, determination, commitment and good sportsmanship, Elle is this week’s Lake Region Boosters and Hancock Lumber “Player of the Week.” Each week, a Lake Region athlete is recognized for his/her dedication (does more than what is asked), work ethic, coachability and academic good standing. Recipients receive a specially-designed t-shirt, sponsored by Hancock Lumber.

Q. What is the most important lesson you have learned from playing sports? Learning to play sports has taught me that it takes a team to win. Not just one or two players can win the game, it takes everyone working together.

Q. What do you enjoy most about the sport you are participating in? The thing I love most about playing field hockey is the team environment and how hard my coaches are willing to push us to be successful. I love the competition of it all.

Q. What is your strength, and what do you need to work on (why)? I’d say my strengths are being a good teammate, staying positive, and communicating with others. Some of the things I can always work on are my stick skills and drives.

Q. What do you like most about your team? I love how much passion my teammates have for each other and field hockey. We have a great connection on and off the field, my teammates are a great group of girls who make playing the sport that much more fun.

Q. What have you learned from your coaches?Every one of my coaches has taught me that winning doesn’t mean everything. Even though it’s a big factor, they’ve taught me the most important thing is to have fun and give it my all.

Q. Best sports moment (explain)? It’s hard to name just a single event, but I love the opportunity to play three varsity sports a year. Sports gives me an outlet for exercise and camaraderie with my teammates. There’s nothing quite like the thrill of competition.

Q. Most disappointing sports moment (explain)? The most disappointing moment was losing the lacrosse state championship my freshman year.

Q. Finish the following, “I will consider this a successful sports season if…”I end the season knowing I gave my best effort in every game. No matter what the score is, what only matters is how hard I worked to win and how much effort I gave in every practice and game.
