Philip H. Denison

Phil Denison

SOUTH PARIS — Philip Herbert Denison, 94, of Harrison passed away peacefully at Stephens Memorial Hospital on November 14, 2023.

His age of 94 years caught up with him. The scythe of time cut
the brittle thread. He was born May 21, 1929, on Dawes Hill in Harrison, in the same house in which he lived all his life. He worked the farm for many years
raising chickens. When he went out of the chicken business, he worked for 28 years at A.C. Lawrence Leather. When A.C. Lawrence went out of business, he worked as a groundskeeper for SAD #61 until retirement.

He was a Boy Scout leader for Troop 151, a member of the Harrison Fire Department, Harrison Historical Society, American Legion and the United Parish Church and a 70-year member of the Crooked River Lodge #152 and was well known by his Masonic family for giving lectures and spending hours teaching and coaching men on learning the ritual. He was well known for telling stories and bringing laughter to one and all. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in Germany.

We don’t know if he ever found “a suit that fit him” or if he knew “what was what,” but the dogs that lost their tail end are still looking for it.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Betty; his parents Hobart and Alice Denison; and his brother Jack Denison.

He is survived by his two sons Michael (fiancé Julie Mannix) and Hobie (wife Martha); four grandsons Ron (wife Susan), Will (wife Leah Haney), Philip (wife Lyndsay) and Brandon Denison; five great-grandchildren Hunter, Jackson, Lauren, Elijah and Matt.

There will be a memorial service held at a later date. Burial will be at the private family cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the United Parish Church in Harrison or The Crooked River Lodge #152 in Harrison.
