Peabody book signing Saturday at Bridgton Books
Life through a window
Is observation at best
Remove glass and live
When Wayne Peabody of Denmark shared a few of his favorite Haikus and poems with a good friend, he was told, “You should write a book.”
The idea simmered for a while.
Then, Wayne finally gave in, why not?
Pathway To The Mind is a collection of Haikus and poems created by a lifetime of observations, curiosities and questions as to why some things never change and what is the true meaning of life.
Peabody will hold a book signing this Saturday, Aug. 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bridgton Books.
An avid musician and outdoorsman, Peabody’s life adventure included submersible pilot, aerial photographer and seaplane pilot.
“Throughout my life, there have been many experiences and observations made that have provoked a deep thought in my mind as to ‘what does it all mean?’ After much contemplation on an experienced topic, I would always try to come to my own conclusion of its true meaning… For the answers to these questions lies within the individual mind and soul,” Peabody wrote in his debut book’s preface. “After reading a friend’s book of published haikus, I knew that I had discovered the answer to collect and write my important observations and questions in a concise form that would provoke deep, meaningful thought in the reader’s mind.”
Peabody saw Haiku as his literary vehicle.
“Three balanced lines of thought in a poetic rhythm that allows a reader to absorb and remember with the first two lines opening the mind, and the third line provoking thought,” he wrote. “So, the Haiku became my chosen medium to finally write down my observations and share with others in a comprehensible and discernable way, without describing what they meant to me or what action, if any, should be taken to change and correct if necessary.”
Peabody noted that Haiku presents and allows individuals to make his or her own conclusion as to their meaning. He hopes that his thoughts of curiosity will inspire readers to enjoy and think at a new level of awareness, “bringing joy and happiness in the importance of knowing!”
