Norway Savings Bank donates to 12 food banks

In an effort to address food insecurity, Norway Savings Bank is donating $20,000 to 12 food banks throughout the bank’s geographical footprint. The donation is made on behalf of the bank’s 100 corporators, in conjunction with its 154th Annual Meeting.

“With the current COVID-19 pandemic, food banks are incredibly challenged to support the surge in demand from individuals and families who are struggling to make ends meet,” said Pat Weigel, president and CEO of Norway Savings Bank. “We have heard firsthand from these organizations that their challenges come from all fronts – increased demand, lack of space for social distancing, fewer volunteers and reduced donations of food and money.”

The following food banks received funds as a result of this donation:

• Bridgton Food Pantry

• Harrison Food Bank

• Agnes Gray School (West Paris)

• Brownfield Food Pantry

• The Progress Center (Norway)

• North Fryeburg Community Chapel Food Pantry

• Trinity Jubilee Center (Lewiston)

• Seeds of Hope (Saco/Biddeford)

• Mid-Coast Hunger Prevention Food Pantry (Brunswick)
