Norman Nielson

Norman William Nielson, of Bridgton, went home to be with God on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016.

Norman was born on July 31, 1941, in Chelsea, Mass. He joined the Navy in 1959. He married Linda Mae Moretti on Oct. 6, 1962, and they shared 54 years and parented three children together. Norman and Linda made a home in Bridgton, beginning in 1994. Norman was a hardworking man who traveled the country as a truck driver and was a self-taught carpenter. He also spent some time in the ministry as a pastor. He was an avid ham radio operator and a fisherman. He loved animals and had many beloved pets during his life.

His wife, Linda Nielson, and his children, Karen Nielson, Sheryl Nielson Yesucevitz, and Eric Nielson; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Greenlaw Nielson; and his grandchildren, Taryn, Braelyn, Paige, and Molly will remember him always as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Norman touched many lives; he was a generous person who loved most of all to make people laugh. We miss his presence with us. The family will be celebrating his life at a private memorial ceremony as he wished. We would like to thank the South Paris Veteran’s Home for providing him with excellent care in the last few months of his life.
