Nancy J. Tripp
CASCO — Nancy Jane Tripp (Oakes), 90, of Casco, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Jan, 7, 2025, at the Gosnell House, Scarborough.
Nancy was born Sept, 14, 1934, in Manchester, N.H., a daughter of John Emery and Edith (Nelson) Oakes.
Nancy married Clarence “Vernon” Tripp on June 17, 1951, in Casco. They made their home in Casco and Raymond where they raised their four children.
Of all the things in her life, it was spending time with her ever-growing family that gave Nancy the most joy and happiness. Her weekly lunch outings to Applebee’s with nephew Kevin Eldridge was the highlight of most weeks, especially when she gave up driving and he became her chauffeur! It was a very special close bond Nancy and her great-grandchild, Chase, shared from the day he was born in 2017. Her name was Grandma Nan and she loved to pick him up for her hug and kiss!
All whom she loved will miss her never-fail approach in sending them greeting cards no matter the occasion. Nancy loved crocheting and crafts and has gifted many afghans and creations to loved ones. Nancy enjoyed the love of her three feline grandbabies too. At her home were Vern, Delilah and Maggee of whom she helped pick out the latter two from MEow Lounge.
She is survived by daughter Melissa E. Poree and husband, David of Casco, whom she lived with for 11 years; three sons, Vernon “Bruce” Tripp (Susan) of Pa., Leland D. Tripp (Karen) of Tenn., John R. Tripp (Van Phen) of Maine; and daughter, Donna Leaf of Calif.; grandchildren David J. Poree (Holly) of Maine, Jillian L. Poree of Calif., Travis M. (Sarah) and Douglas J. (Arlene) Tripp of Pa., Austin Tripp, Cara A., Jonathan, and Jessica J.
