NORWAY — God took an amazing woman to heaven to be with her husband, son and grand-daughter, along with other family members and dear friends on Monday, November 18, 2024. Mary Andrews, 102 and 1/2,
passed at the Norway Center for Health and Rehab.

The daughter of Earl L. and Alice Kneeland Marr, she was born in Norway on
May 6, 1922, and lived in South Waterford for much of her life. A graduate of Norway High School in 1940, she was the sibling of brothers Earl Jr., Roger, and sister Ann. Following graduation, she married the love of her life, Oscar Andrews, on July 7, 1940. They built a beautiful and full life together, and were married for 57 years until Oscar’s death on November 10, 1997.

They raised four children, Jeanie, Clifford, David and Tom, and had 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and sever great-great-grandchildren. These were all her pride and joy! Family meant everything to her!

She was a homemaker and was active in many community projects and organizations, including the Christmas Club, the Waterford Grange, created a local cookbook, and a member of the Waterford Congregational Church UCC. During their life in South Waterford, she became known for her outstanding cooking while she was an innkeeper and owner of the Bear Mountain House.

Following their 22 years at Bear Mountain House, they built a lovely home in North Waterford, living there until Oscar’s death and she then moved to South Paris.

Survivors include Jeanie and husband Alvin Brown, David and wife Judy Andrews, Tom and wife Vicky Andrews, and Tina Andrews, wife of deceased son, Clifford, along with nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, seven great-great- grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, several cousins, good and faithful friends Sandra Baker and Margaret Cole, along with many other wonderful friends.

Mary and her family express much gratitude for many caregivers in recent years, especially Fawn Giasson, the wonderful staff at the Norway Center for Health and Rehab, the visits from Pastor Mike Carter, hairstylist Tova Millett and Andwell Hospice Care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Congregational Church at 17 East Main Street, South Paris, Maine, 04281.

Family and friends may attend visiting hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 5 at Chandler Funeral Home, 45 Main St., South Paris. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, 17 East Main St., South Paris with a reception to follow.
