Erinn Green is only a freshman, but when the varsity girls’ lacrosse season opened, she was ready and hit the ground running.

“Erinn has been flexible in playing anywhere on the field where she is needed. She is the epitome of grit and determination. Her stick work combined with her knowledge and love for the game has truly shown through when watching her play,” Lake Region varsity girls’ lacrosse Coach Emma Brown said. “Erinn is a pillar in our offensive and defensive ends of the field and she only continues to grow every game. Off the field, she works hard in the classroom and cheers on her teammates any chance she gets. Erinn is an incredible person and athlete. She is a true role model as we progress throughout this season.”

In recognition of her strong work ethic, determination, commitment and good sportsmanship, Erinn is this week’s Boosters and Hancock Lumber “Player of the Week.” Each week, a Lake Region athlete is recognized for his/her dedication (does more than what is asked), work ethic, coachability and academic good standing. Recipients receive a specially-designed t-shirt, sponsored by Hancock Lumber.

Q. What do you find most challenging about the sport? The most challenging part of this sport is definitely when after the game you’re sitting at home and thinking about all the things you could’ve done to help your team win.

Q. What goal did you set for yourself this season, and what will it take to reach that goal? The goal I have set for myself for this season is getting a win, in order to do this I will have to push myself and my teammates to do the best we can.

Q. What is your favorite sports memory and/or achievement? My favorite sport achievement would be the first game of the season when I started and got announced. As a freshman, this was the first I’ve ever started in any sports. I had been dreaming of this moment since I was little.

Q. How has sports made you a better person? Sports have made me a better person because I have to communicate on and off the field with a lot of people and it also allows me to create friendships and bonds. It teaches me how to support my friends and have a fun time no matter what.

Q. Name a teammate or coach you admire and explain why? I admire all the upperclassmen on the team because they really took me in and helped me whenever I didn’t know what to do. They never leave me out and always include me in conversations and I really appreciate it and admire them for letting underclassmen hangout with them.
