LR Drama Club presents spooky, kooky ‘Addams Family’
Yes, they’re creepy and they’re kooky.
One would add mysterious and spooky.
Together, they’re all ookey.
Who are they? Why of course, the famous Addams Family.
Area residents can sit back and enjoy a comical evening at Lake Region High School this weekend as the Drama Club presents their rendition of the magnificently macabre musical comedy, “The Addams Family: A New Musical Comedy.”
The show opens this Friday, April 1 in the Lake Region High School auditorium.
In the kooky, upside-down world of the Addams Family, a grave crisis is brewing. It is every father’s worst nightmare but in reverse. Daughter Wednesday, the ultimate Princess of Darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a “normal” young man, Lucas Beineke, from a quite respectable Ohio family — not even remotely fiendish! Worse, the romance seems to have turned the steadfastly gloomy Addams’s girl downright cheery, leaving her family very worried and distressed. Comic chaos reigns when they host a dinner for Wednesday’s new boyfriend and his parents so they can become better acquainted with the entire Addams family.
Show dates April 1-3 and April 8-10. Curtain time for Friday and Saturday evening shows is 7 p.m. and Sunday matinees start at 2 p.m.
Tickets at the door: $12 for adults, $8 for seniors and students.

The Pugsleys
Freshman Eva Fickett of Naples
What do you like about the role? “What I like about Pugsley Addams is his personality. He’s fun to play, and I like to explore what kind of relationships he has with other characters. Pugsley also has sort of a soft spot for his sister (Wednesday) which is a nice addition.”
What is most challenging about the role? “The thing that was challenging for me was Pugsley’s body language during certain moments and facial expressions. Once I got to really feel the character it got easier to do.”
Freshman Shannon-Marie Goguen of Naples
What do you like about the role? “I like that I’m in trouble with what happened with the acrimonium. I like being involved with everyone.”
What is most challenging about the role? “The difficult thing for me is remembering how certain songs go.”

What is most challenging about the role? “The most challenging part about the role would be the singing. Lucas’ part is higher than Wednesday in some parts so the singing for Lucas was a challenge to learn.”
The Ancestors
Freshman Ash Armstrong of Naples
What do you like about the role? “The costumes are sick and the ensemble is fun because you can make up your own personality for the character.”
What is most challenging about the role? “The first song, it’s fun, it’s a killer opening song, but holy moly is it challenging. It was so worth it when I learned it though.”
Sophomore Leah Edwards of Bridgton

What is most challenging about the role? “I think finding some of the more complex harmonies is definitely challenging. It was also hard to learn some of the dance numbers. All in all, a good experience.”
Freshman Emma McKenney of Baldwin
What do you like about the role? “One of the things I like about my role is slamming my staff down on the floor. I also like my costume, especially the shirt.”
What is most challenging about the role? “One of the most challenging things about my role is dancing with my hat on. Sometimes it slips, but I manage to dance with it on.”
Fifth grader Brody Watkins of Bridgton
What do you like about the role? “I really like all of the different parts that I get to play in the show. Everything from being a picture on the wall, to ancestor, to the monster under the bed. I have enjoyed learning the dancing and overall doing something new as this is my first time in a show.”
What is the most challenging about the role? “While it was fun, it was also very challenging to learn the dances. Learning where to be when, when to sing what, and when to do what have all been a challenge but fun at the same time.”
