Lorna G. Mowatt, 95
Lorna Gloria Mowatt, 95, of Bridgton, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 14, 2020 at her home with her family at her side. Lorna was born on June 22, 1924 in Lewiston, the daughter of Mary Bilodeau Durgin and Neal M Durgin Sr.
Lorna married Arthur Mowatt, Jr. on December 29, 1942 and shared 73 years together. They raised three children and welcomed a large extended family and neighborhood of children and friends into their home.
Lorna dedicated herself to her primary occupation of raising her family and wife to Junior. She also took in camp laundry for some summer seasons then later worked at camps Kingswood and Takajo. Husband Junior worked at camp Takajo and she continued to be part of the Takajo family after ending their work life.
Lorna had many interests and hobbies throughout her life. She was very talented with crafts and was involved in craft, sewing and ceramic groups, especially with her close lifetime friends. She was always ready for a game or cards with family or friends. Lorna was a great cook as well as a talented homemaker. She and husband Junior traveled extensively in the United States and Canada.
Lorna was a member of the Conway Church of Christ, Ronald St. John VFW post auxiliary, Easy Rider snowmobile club and Snow Goers snowmobile club.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband Arthur W. Mowatt, Jr.; brothers Clifford and Neal. Jr.; sister in law Amanda Durgin; and Daughter in law Sherry Mowatt. She is survived by her brother Edward S Durgin; three children, daughter Sandra and husband Ron Smith of North Bridgton, daughter Trudy and husband Brian Winslow of North Bridgton, son Arthur III of North Bridgton; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 9 great great grandchildren. Lorna had many nieces and nephews that visited her home to enjoy the fun and hospitality. She entertained this extended family with her energy, humor and unique quotations.
The family wants to thank the dedicated group of private caregivers, First Light Home Care and Androscoggin Hospice for their compassion and love during the many months of care.
Graveside services for Lorna will be at the North Bridgton cemetery on Saturday June 20 at 11 am. As we strive to keep everyone safe and healthy, it is requested that attendees where a mask. As per state restrictions, not more than 50 people will be allowed to gather at any one time and social distancing measures will be followed.
