Kathleen J. Christensen-Towne
Kathleen J. Christensen-Towne, 76, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022, with her loving family by her side.
She was born February 2, 1946, in Beverly, Mass., a daughter of the late Murray D. and Shirley M. (Marshall) Christensen. Kathleen was pre-deceased by her loving parents, Murray and Shirley Christensen and her stepfather Eugene Rose. She is survived by her husband Kenneth Towne of 26 years.
Kathleen was raised in Beverly, Mass., and graduated from Beverly High School. She started her medical career as a candy striper at Beverly Hospital and went on to complete her degree as an Operating Room Technician and worked for over 35 years for Bridgton Hospital.
She spent her youngest years camping in Maine over the summer. Maine became her home. She raised a large family and was very active with them including den mother, breeding and showing Irish Setters, ski instructor at Pleasant Mountain, riding motorcycles, fishing, water skiing, and loving nature and art were her passion.
Kathy was an exceptional artist. She displayed and sold her artwork at Gallery 302. She was an avid participant and volunteer for Art in the Park, the summer event in Bridgton.
Kathy could always be found at campgrounds, her love of peaceful, natural surrounds, created most of her inspirational artwork. She has passed her talents along to her children and grandchildren who have always admired her talents.
She loved church and her spiritual understands of the world and the kindness and happiness of all people. Kathy enjoyed life and loved to laugh and make others happy and comfortable.
Kathy is survived by her siblings, Maureen Conrad, David Christensen (Donnalee), Nancy Davekos (James), Anthony Rose (Joanne), Elizabeth Armington (Brian), and William Rose (Janet). She is also survived by her children, Kristen O’Brien, Richard G. Stevens III (Helene), Christopher Stevens (Ruth), Holly Lane, Lori Stevens, Reginald Watkins and Esther Watkins. Along with her loving grandchildren, Dylan, Logan, Lucy, Charlotte, Hannah, Caleb, Corey, Cody, Kelley, Justin and Gregory. And great-grandchildren Glynn, Preston, Mariah and Brielle. Also, by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will greet friends on Thursday, June 16, 2022, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Chandler Funeral Home, 8 Elm Street, Bridgton. Additional viewing on Friday, June 17, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian burial on Friday, June 17, 2022, 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Church on High Street in Bridgton.
