June Anschutz

June Woodbury Anschutz, 92, passed away Sunday, June 27, 2021, at her home with family by her side.

She was born June 17, 1929, in Salem, Mass., and grew up in Wenham, Mass., the daughter of Orpheus and Aurelia (Glavin) Woodbury.

June and her husband Harry E. Anschutz Jr., who preceded her in death, retired to Maine more than three decades ago after stays in South Carolina, Connecticut, Missouri and Alabama.

An avid outdoors person, June enjoyed swimming, cycling, horseback riding and hiking, was a competitive amateur tennis player in her 40s and a common sight on the slopes of Shawnee Peak into her 80s, often cross-country ski- ing across Moose Pond to get there.

She earned a B.S. degree in chemistry at Mount Holyoke College in 1950 after graduating from a two-year program at Green Mountain College in 1948. She was also a pianist and longtime member of the Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son Charles “Chuck” Anschutz of Bridgton; daughter Linda Anschutz of Columbia Falls, Mont.; and a sister, Barbara Dodge of Bridgton.
