CASCO — Joyce A. Hurt, 89, of Casco, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024, at her home in Casco, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Eastport on June 6, 1935, a daughter of George and Mary (Sweeney) McGarvey and attended local schools.

Joyce married Bernard Hurt on Dec. 17, 1959, and made their home in Casco in 1966.

She worked at National Medical Care in Portland, the Bridgton Shoe shop and Wilner’s Wood Products in South Paris.

Joyce enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, baking and taking care of her family.

She is survived by two daughters, Sandy Watkins of Casco and Debra Dadmun and her husband, “Butch” of Casco; a son, Mark Hurt and his girlfriend, Mary Ann Mulkern of Casco; a sister, Mary; grandchildren, Cacy, Erica, Kate, Robert III, Katlyn, Christopher, David, and Richard; great-grandchildren, Nicole, Genevieve, Bryce, Julianna, Tyler, Alex; nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard; son, Shawn; daughter, Gene; grandson, Robert Jr.; great-grandson, Joseph; brother John and sister Jean.
