John Smith

John H. Smith, 91, passed away peacefully at home in Carmichael, Calif. with his loving wife and family by his side on March 7, 2014.

He moved to Sacramento in 1962, after living in Maine, New York and San Francisco.

John was born in Casco on Dec. 24, 1922. He grew up in Maine with seven brothers and sisters.

After graduating high school, John entered the service during WWII. He became a Senior Master Sergeant with the Army Air Corp during the war. After the war, he was a Special Agent for the AFOSI until 1964.

Shortly thereafter, he joined the Sacramento County Public Defenders office, where he was a Senior Criminal Investigator until his retirement in December, 1992.

Later in the 1990s, he became a partner with Legacy Quest International (LQI).

John was predeceased by his first wife, Barbara (Bobbie) in 1997.

John is survived by his loving wife, Marie; his son, Steve; his two granddaughters; his brother, Glen Jr.; and his sister, Glenna Patti.
