John C. Hurley, 85
PORTLAND — John C. Hurley, 85, passed away peacefully Friday, Jan. 12, 2018 at his home in Portland.
He was born Nov. 20, 1932 in Portland, the son of Lewis G. and Jennie B. Hurley. John was a graduate of Deering High School.
He had been employed for many years at Fox Lumber in their cabinet shop. John took great pride in his detailed woodworking skills.
John loved and owned several beautiful antique cars over the years. In his younger years, his daily driver was a 1946 Chevy pickup truck. He even named his dog Chevi.
John spent most of his leisure time at his camp on Beaver Pond in Denmark, this was his favorite place to be.
In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his sister, Ruth I. Anthoine.
He is survived by three nephews, Stephen Anthoine, Robert Anthoine and William Anthoine. We will always remember John for his love and respect for nature, the wilderness and all animals especially his dogs.

Visiting hours will be Thursday, Jan. 18 from 3 to 5 p.m. at A.T Hutchins Funeral home, 660 Brighton Avenue, Portland.
Burial will take place in the spring in Denmark.
