Joan Pechnik
Joan (Kaznosky) Pechnik, 89, of Bridgton, formerly of Haverhill, Mass., passed away peacefully on Friday, September 13, 2024, at home with her loving family by her side.
She was born March 8, 1935, in Perth Amboy, N.J., a daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Rusay) Kaznosky.
Mrs. Pechnik was educated in the New Jersey school system and earned her bachelor’s degree from New England College. She earned her R.N. from Perth Amboy General Hospital in New Jersey.
For 23 years Joan was employed at the Hale Hospital as a nursing administrator, she also worked as a teacher of nursing, as a member of the visiting nurse’s association and one of her greatest achievements was establishing the medical infirmary at Monmouth College in N.J.
Joan was president of The Haverhill Garden Club and on the Board of Directors of The Steven Bennett Home in Haverhill. She dedicated a lot of time to her Catholic Parish. Joan loved to travel and vacation with her husband as well as friends to St. Maarten, Rangeley, and Europe.
She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Franklin Pechnik; her son David Pechnik, her grandson Joshua Bonnell and her brother Peter Kaznosky.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter Susan Bonnell, her grandchildren Austin Bonnell, Makenzie Pechnik and Delaney Pechnik; daughter-in-law Leslie Goes Pechnik. Her sister-in-law Chickie Tuttle, her brother Gerald Kaznosky and his wife Margret of South River, N.J., along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will hold calling hours on Friday, October 4, 2024, from 9:30-11 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bridgton, with a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. A burial will follow at Riverside Annex Cemetery in South Paris.
