Jason D. Frizzell
Jason Duncan Frizzell, 71, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023, after a five-year courageous battle with lymphoma surrounded by his wife, Kathleen, and her two daughters, Shannon and Erin.
Born November 16, 1951, in Lawrence, Mass., to Frances (Wilson) and Laurence Frizzell, Jason was the fourth of five children. Born and raised in West Boxford, Jason graduated from Masconomet Regional High School and Merrimack College, where his father was a founding member and lifelong professor of Chemistry.
While in college Jason followed his country’s call of duty and served in the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Army. Upon his return, he completed his BS in Civil Engineering at Merrimack and began his career. After living in St. Louis and traveling the world for work with ITT Grinnell, he moved to Maine in 1999 and soon after met the love of his life, Kathleen, who he married in 2019.
A true humanitarian in every sense of the word, Jason derived great pleasure in helping others. His love for life and the people in it was a gift — as his wife shared, “He was the kindest person I’ve ever known.” A lifelong learner, Jason was always willing to share his knowledge and engage in a deep conversation on any topic. He found peace in taking daily walks to admire the beauty around him, could always be found puttering and completing projects — always with classical music playing and a pet by his side. Through his final days, he requested scenery and light music representing, in his own words, “kind of what I’m all about.” Patient, loving, kind, hard-working and selfless, the world has lost one of the best.
Jason is survived by his soulmate and wife, Kathleen, her daughters Shannon and Erin, son-in-law Matt; four grandchildren Hannah, Matthew, Shane, and Owen; sisters Margaret and husband, William, Susan and husband, John, and Laurie and wife Cecile; niece Michele and husband, Scott, niece Shannon and husband, Andrew, and nephew Wesley and wife, Ana; beloved black dog and cat, Oakley and Tom; as well as countless friends he made along his travels.
He was predeceased by his parents and sister Christina.
Burial is private. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 30 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the American Legion Post 155 in Naples.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jason’s name to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston: Memorial and Tribute Gifts – Dana-Farber Cancer Institute | Boston, MA.
