Janice A. Chadbourne
Janice Ann Chadbourne, 91, of Bridgton, died in the comfort of the same home she was born in on Elm Street, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024.
She was the fifth child born to George E. and Edna (Bowler) Bowley. Janice attended local schools, graduating from Bridgton High School.
On May 29, 1954, she married Glenn J. Chadbourne upon his return home from the service. They made their home in the Brunswick and Topsham area until 1971 when they returned to Bridgton.
For over 30 years, Janice served the Town of Bridgton in many capacities, but most notably as the Town Clerk, retiring in 1991.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Chickadee Quilters.
Janice enjoyed many winters in Myrtle Beach with Glenn, gardening, the company of the birds she fed around her home, her garden, playing the piano, and especially time with her family and her beloved cat Toby. The annual “Christmas in July” family gathering at the house was always one of her favorite times of the year.
She is survived by her three children, Glenn J. “Jim” Chadbourne Jr. and his wife, Peg of Denmark, Gary M. Chadbourne and his companion, Sherrie Proctor of Bridgton, and Linda A. Chadbourne and her companion, Dan Shaheen of Bridgton; six grandchildren, Christopher S. Shepard and his wife, Grace of Waterford, Jacob M. Chadbourne of Bridgton, Katherine J. “Kaytee” Chadbourne and her companion, Steven Cyr of Naples, Miranda Chadbourne and her companion, Drew Shane of Brunswick, Leah M. Perez and her husband, Isy of Conway, N.H., Wesley Woodworth of Denmark, and one great-grand- daughter, Ellie Primrose Shepard.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Glenn on Mar. 1, 2014; four siblings, George “Bud” and Wilfred “Bill” Bowley, Edith Lewson, and Leona Kay. A granddaughter, Amber McCort and a great- grandson Gryffin J. Lapierre.
Memorial visitation will be held December 28 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Hall Funeral Home, 165 Quaker Ridge Road in Casco. Spring interment will be at the Forest Hills Cemetery in Bridgton.
