James P. Leo, 63
BROWNFIELD — James Patrick Leo, 63, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018.
He was born June 17, 1955, in Portland, and was raised on Munjoy Hill. Jim graduated from Portland High School. After graduating, he followed in his father’s footsteps, leading him to become a master mason. His work can be seen throughout downtown Portland on many historical buildings. He was a very talented mason and an extremely hard worker. He worked for Rice Management, Jeffrey Rice, for many years maintaining buildings.
Jim lived for the woods and was an avid and successful hunter. He always hunted in a fair manner. One of his biggest accomplishments was a “Grand Slam†with a bow, hunting a moose, bear, deer and turkey in the same year. He was fortunate to be drawn for the moose lottery three times and has two beautiful bull moose mounts from these adventures, along with a Boone and Crockett trophy buck and multiple black bear mounts. Seboomook was his favorite place to be. Jim was also a lover of all animals. So much so that he bought his first farm two years ago where he and his daughter and grandchildren could be together. He took pride in raising pigs and chickens and helping maintain the horses’ care. He loved to come home to his farm with mountain views and “peace and quiet.†He was not a city man, but a man of a simple life.
Jim was predeceased by his mother and father, William and Martha Leo; sister, Carol Jean; and brother, Bill.
He is survived by his daughter, Jamie Leo; two grandchildren; and siblings, Patty, Tommy, Kathy, Maureen, Danny, Cindy, Timmy and their families.
A gathering of family and friends will take place from 12 to 3 p.m., on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018, at A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home, 660 Brighton Avenue, Portland.
