James H. Randall, 86
NORTH LOVELL — James Henry Randall, 86, of North Lovell, passed away on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013 in Auburn.
He was born in Lincoln, R.I. on June 18, 1926, the son of Wildfred and Ruth (Taylor) Randall. He was a U.S. Army veteran during WWII, serving in Okinawa.
He was married to Mary Elizabeth “Betty†Backes on July 4, 1947.
James was employed as a heavy equipment operator. He served 50 years with the Lime Rock Fire Department as a captain and later chairman of the board of fire wardens. The Lime Rock Twin River Station displays a plaque of gratitude for the years of dedicated service by the Randall family. He served the town of Lincoln as Sealer of Weights and Measures for seven years.
Jim and Betty had vacationed in Lovell and Stoneham since 1964 and moved to North Lovell in 1992. He joined the Lovell Volunteer Fire Department serving as a lieutenant. He was a member of the Lovell Veteran of Foreign Wars and placed flags on the graves of Lovell veterans each year for Memorial Day.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda Boucher of Lovell; a brother, Wildred Jr. of Lincoln, R.I.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; seven nieces and nephews; and many, many dear friends from Lovell to Lincoln.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Mary; a daughter, Virginia Palomares; a son, James Randall; a great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Dot Mignacca and Eleanor Almstrom.
