Harold E. Butler, 94
SEBAGO — An angel flew home today! Harold Ernest Butler, 94, beloved son, father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather and proud Marine, fell asleep Monday night, and drifted into eternal rest early Tuesday morning, March 10, 2015.
Harold was born in Oct. of 1920, to Helen and Mahlon Butler in New Jersey. As many young men in the 1940s did, Harold joined the service to serve and protect our country during World War II. A member of the United States Marines, he fought in the South Pacific until 1946, when he returned home to reunite with this wife Muriel, whom he met and married only days before he shipped out with his unit! Harold and Muriel lived and raised their daughter Janice in Sebago.
He worked various factory jobs, was an avid fisherman and hunter, and a member of the Sebago Lions Club for many years. He retired and left Sebago to go live in Florida for a few years. For the last years of his life he had been living in Houston, Texas with his granddaughter Julie.
Harold is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Muriel Bachelder Butler, and his daughter, Janice Lynn. He is also survived by four great-granddaughters; his sister Bernice; and many, many friends in Maine, Florida, New Jersey and Texas, who will carry his memory forever, and wish him peace in Heaven above.
