George LaOtis Lathrop, 92, of Bridgton, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2019. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Elaine Shea Lathrop.

George was born in Waterbury, Conn., on July 22, 1926. He spent most of his adult life living in Connecticut, but had resided in Maine for the past 22 years. He loved to play cribbage and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. George was a World War II veteran, serving on the aircraft carrier Antietam from 1944 until the end of the war.

He is survived by his son, George W. Lathrop; his daughter, Laurie Smedberg and her husband Jack; four grandchildren, Jaclyn Smith and her husband Peter, Justine Soares and her husband Dave, Jeffrey Lathrop, Christopher Smedberg and his wife Kaitlin; and two great-granddaughters, Harper and Cambell Smith.
