George A. Drew, 87
George A. Drew, 87, of Bridgton, passed away Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Scarborough.
He was born in Auburn on Nov. 22, 1928, the son of George and Vera Shackley Drew. George grew up in Hollis and graduated from Hollis High School.
Following high school, he served in the U.S. Navy. After his service to his country, he worked in the Federal Systems Division for IBM for over 30 years.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening; the company of his Sheltie, Buddy; and his workshop, where he made furniture and dollhouses.
He is survived by his wife of over 66 years of marriage, Doris Drew of Bridgton; three sons, George Drew Jr. of Texas, Mark Drew of Maryland and James Drew of New York; a daughter, Ruth-Ann Leinhos; a sister, Dorothy Diane Red of Steep Falls; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, at the Meetinghouse Hill Cemetery, Route 35, in Hollis. Dennett, Craig & Pate of Buxton are entrusted with the arrangements.
