Frank McGee Jr.

Frank J. McGee, Jr., Capt. RISP, Ret., 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Claire E. (Revens) McGee for 57 years. He was the son of the late Frank J. and Eleanor P. (Wynn) McGee, Sr. of Providence, RI.

Frank served his country honorably in the United States Army. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Salve Regina University and was a Captain of the Rhode Island State Police. Frank was an original member and later Commander of the RISP SWAT team. Upon his retirement, he worked as a fraud investigator for Shawmut Bank for 10 years. Frank was a 3rddegree member of the Knights of Columbus.

After raising their family in Rhode Island, Frank and Claire retired to Moose Pond, in Denmark. There, Frank became an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He was often found fishing from his dock or boating around the lake. He enjoyed his daily swim in the summer, volunteering as security at the Fryeburg Fair, and most notably, spending time with his children and grandchildren at the cabin he loved. 

In addition to his wife, Claire, Frank is survived by his four children: Erin C. MacLeod (husband, Scott W. MacLeod) of North Kingstown, RI; Lori L. Lawler (husband, William L. Lawler, Capt. USN, Ret.) of Wakefield, RI; Keri F. Cunningham (husband, Greg W. Cunningham, SGT, RISP) of Portsmouth, RI; and Frank J. McGee, III, LT, WPD (wife, Patricia M. McGee) of North Kingstown, RI. Frank has thirteen grandchildren: Scott, Jr. (wife, Stephani MacLeod), Patrick and Ian MacLeod; Kaitlin, Anne, Michaela (Capt. US Army) (husband, Grant Lang, Capt. US Army), Sean (1stLT, US Army), Eleanor and Adeline Lawler; Victoria and James Cunningham; Frank, IV and Thomas McGee. Frank had one great grandson, Grady Lang. He was the brother of Timothy J. McGee and the late James M. McGee. 

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, Jan. 30, 2022, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Rd., North Kingstown. Relatives and friends are invited to gather in procession on Monday, Jan. 31, 2022, at 9 a.m. from Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 275 Tower Hill Rd., North Kingstown. His burial with military funeral honors will take place at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, R.I.
