Elijah J. Szeto
AUBURN — It is with the deepest sorrow and an endless amount of love that we announce the unexpected, tragic passing of our profoundly beloved Elijah Jared Szeto on July 28, 2023 at home of natural causes.
Eli was born on October 20, 1993 in Watertown, Mass. The youngest son of Hoy-Song Szeto and Eileen Grant-Szeto. He was raised in Bridgton, by Eileen
Grant-Szeto and his stepfather Jack D. Jolie. Cherished little brother of Evan Szeto, Eva-Marie
Salguero and Ethan Szeto. Loving uncle to Isabella Szeto, Caleb, Alexia and Colby Salguero.
With a heavy heart he was predeceased by his maternal grandmother Evelyn Grant (Nana). As Eli grew, so did his relationship with his Nana. They became almost inseparable and had a bond no one else could understand.
He graduated from Lake Region High School in 2012, where he was a valuable player on both the lacrosse and football teams. In the winter months, you could find him just about every day of the week on his snowboard, shredding the slopes at Shawnee Peak. He went on to enlist in the U.S. Army and spent time in Korea before returning home to Maine. He was currently working as a forklift operator for Pepsi Co., where he was frequently ranked in the top spots for his ability to perform the quickest in his position, which he was so so very proud of.
Eli loved Led Zeppelin, anything Bob Marley and all species of frogs. He was the definition of fearless and always ready for a good adventure. Although he didn’t always make it known, he had the heart of a giant. He had a beautiful smile that could just make you melt and a sense of fashion like no other. For anyone that knew Eli, please take comfort in knowing that he is with his Nana now and will be forever in our hearts.
