Edward S. Durgin
Edward S. Durgin, 88, of Mechanic Falls, died on Nov. 17, 2024, at his home after a long illness.
He was born in Bridgton on Feb. 19, 1936, a son of the late Neal and Evelyn M. (Bilodeau) Durgin.
He graduated from Bridgton High School and loved playing on the baseball team. He was married to the late Armande (Beaulieu) for 59 years. They lived in Connecticut for a long time and then many years in North Bridgton.
He worked in several machine shops and had his own business. He drove tractor trailer and a school bus for a time, owned Pondicherry Lanes Bowling Alley in Bridgton, and worked with his son doing insulating and roofing. He built two of his homes in North Bridgton.
Ed loved country music and played guitar and sang for the residents at Casco Inn. He enjoyed his last days at The Silver Spur dancing and listening to bands, especially Peter Allen and DeeDee.
He is survived by his wife Dianne (Lane), and two sons, Tim of Norway, and John in Connecticut.
He was predeceased by a son Kenneth, a sister Lorna Mowatt and two brothers, Neal Jr., and Clifford.
Ed was a member of the Church of Christ in South Paris, and faithfully attended until the onset of illness.
There will be no service at his request. He will be interred at Forest Hills Cemetery in Bridgton. Arrangements made by Funeral Alternatives.
